Brunei Fertilizer Industries Sdn. Bhd. (BFI) was established on the 28th of October 2013 and is owned by the Government of Brunei Darussalam. It is the country’s premier Ammonia and Urea Plant and also one of the largest single train fertilizer plants in Southeast Asia.
BFI’s state-of-the-art plant sits on a 55-hectare site in Sungai Liang Industrial Park in the Belait District.

We are excited to present BFI’s official mascot, Baja the Chameleon!
Baja in Bahasa Melayu (Malay) language means ‘fertilizer’.
These characteristics in relatability to BFI include:
- Adaptability: Chameleons are masters of adaptability, capable of adjusting to various environments and conditions. Similarly, BFI aims to be agile and adaptive to the market and buyers’ feedback and playing a major role as a solution to answering the global call in reducing the gaps in food security and sustainability with our upcoming new urea-coated products and future green-related projects.
- Color Camouflage: With their remarkable adaptability skills, chameleons are able to change colors to blend into their surrounding environment. This correlates to BFI’s new urea-coated products which each represent a unique color in addition to BFI’s current white-colored Granular Urea product.
